Shakira made history with her first halftime show at the Copa America final on Sunday. The final match was between Argentina and Colombia at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Shakira, the Colombian superstar, wore a shiny silver skirt and top. She opened her performance with her famous song "Hips Don't Lie." She shouted, "Te Quiero, Colombia!" which means "I love you, Colombia!" She performed with dancers and robotic performers, singing more hits like "Te Felicito," "TQG," and "Puntería."
The show had amazing visuals, including 3D wolves and floating gems. This was Shakira's first time performing at Copa America, the oldest soccer tournament in the world. She has performed at other big events like the World Cup and the Super Bowl.
This was also the first long halftime show at a Copa America match, inspired by the US tradition of big halftime shows.
CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez praised Shakira. He said, "Shakira is a star from South America who is loved all over the world. Her music brings people together and makes them happy."
Other performers included Karol G, who sang Colombia's national anthem, and Abel Pintos, who sang Argentina's anthem. Stars like Feid and Maluma were also there.
In the US, Copa America 2024 was shown in Spanish on Univision, TUND, and UniMás, and streamed on FuboTV and DirecTV Stream. The halftime show was also on FOX, Fox Sports, and TyC Sports Internacional.
