The world’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has excelled at the ongoing World Cup competition in England, will feature in a club-level T20 competition in Canada to be held in July-August this year.
Shakib will play for Brampton Wolves along Darren Sammy of West Indies and Shahid Afridi of Pakistan for the Global T20 Canada this year, the International Cricket Council said on Friday.
India’s Yuvraj Singh, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket and the Indian Premier League, has been signed up by Toronto Nationals for the Global T20 Canada competition which will have 22 matches in Brampton from 26 July to August 11. The other teams in the competition too have seasoned T20 players in their ranks including Sunil Narine of West Indies and Thisara Perera of Sri Lanka (Montreal Tigers), Kane Williamson (New Zealand), Faf du Plessis of South Africa and Australia’s Ben Cutting (Edmonton Lions), West Indian Chris Gayle and Andre Russell (Vancouver Knights) and Chris Lynn of Australia, J P Duminy of South Africa and Dwayne Bravo of West Indies (Winnipeg Hawks).
