Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan has suffered an ankle injury just before the mega-event ODI World Cup 2023.
According to broadcasting channel T-Sports, the all-rounder incurred the injury during the team's first practice session at Guwahati.
It's a major blow for the Tigers as the injury has ruled their regular captain out from the first warm-up match against Sri Lanka. Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be captaining in his absence.
Meanwhile, the ace-all-rounder is also doubtful for the second warm-up match against England which is scheduled to be held on October 2.
Following the practice matches Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign against Afghanistan at Dharamsala on 7 October.
