There are so much talking about the absence of Tigers’ captain Shakib Al Hassan in the first match against Pakistan in the ongoing Tri-nation tournament in New Zealand rather than poor batting when Bangladesh to take on the hosts today in their second match.
Interestingly it has been almost become a regular subject of gabbing on Shakib’s joining with the team or confusion with his playing the matches or tournament at home or abroad.
The controversy with Shakib Al Hassan’s behave and absence has been taking as a very important factor, this time also debates from different quarters is going on and Tigers’ captain is on a huge storm for failing to join the team in New Zealand.
It’s very much true that a star performer like Shakib’s appearance is a huge boost up for the team, as player like him is enough to turn the scenario of a match.
No doubt, Bangladesh yet to produce no ideal replacement of Shakib and evidently may be will have to wait for a long to have any sharp all-rounder of his class.
But it is an absolute truth that once Bangladesh will have to play in absence of Shakib, days will come when he will retire from cricket, as India have been playing without Sachin Tendulkar, Sourab Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, Pakistan have no Wasim Akram , Waqar Yunis, Chris Gayle is not in the West Indies team, Tigers also have been playing without Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmud Ullah Riyad (in the T-20 format) – there are so many examples.
As win or loss is not main objective of playing in this tournament but is watching the players’ mistakes and to rectify their blunders, to assemble the team combination, so Shakib’s joining with the team in New Zealand is not a big concern.
Overall, the Tri-nation tournament is mostly taking as preparation for the upcoming World Cup and to make the players familiar with the condition that is similar to Australia, where the World Cup will be take place.
So Shakib’s presence in New Zealand in the first match is not a major damage when there three more matches to have a good team combination and he will lead the team.
The officials might be had the findings of the last match against Pakistan when batting is the main concern, as Pakistan bowlers bailed them out by shutting out of the contest entirely.
Tigers’ batters found themselves behind the rate immediately after beginning their innings and could never recover, and a middle-order collapse extinguished any hopes to entertain of an unlikely chase.
Most of the players’ approaches including the opening pairs’ can never go with the T-20 format when their striking rates are even not ideal for One-day format.
Apart from Muztafiz and Hassan Mahmud who disappointed much, as the pace pair conceded 90 runs off Pakistan’s 167 runs innings, other bowlers could show some of their characters to restrict Pakistan on 167 runs.
