Uncertainty looms large with Shakib Al Hassan’s participation in the Afghanistan series to be held in Sharjah from first week of November.
Shakib Al Hassan, who announced his retirement from the Test and T20 formats, desired to play the last match against South Africa and to say good bye the Test cricket from home ground.
But due to security concern, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) discouraged Shakib not to return home.
Shakib, who played his last T20 international match in the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, announced about his retirement during Kanpur Test, when he also declared that he would play the farewell match of ODI during the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
Shakib was supposed to play the series against Afghanistan to start from November 6 and even it was expected that he would travel to West Indies with the team after the Afghanistan series.
But despite there are only one week left to begin the series against Afghanistan, BCB is yet to take decision about Shakib. So, it becomes uncertain about Shakib’s participation in the Afghanistan series.
Meanwhile, Cricbuzz, an online portal talked to Shakib on Monday when the legendary cricketer told the news agency that nobody contacted with him.
According to Cricbuzz, Shakib is ready to play the Afghanistan series but the selection panel of the BCB did know about the issue and they did not get any guideline about Shakib’s inclusion from the high authority of the BCB.
Meanwhile, Sharjah is Afghanistan’s home venue when the three-match ODIs series will start on November six, second ODI on nine and the third and last match will be held on November 11.
