SFDF holds activity review, planning conference

A conference titled ‘SFDF Activity Review and Planning Conference-2023’ was organised by ‘Vision 2041: harnessing small savings for poverty alleviation’ project was held on Sunday at the Department of Cooperatives at Agargaon in Dhaka.

The chief guest in the conference was state minister for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee and special guest was Hamida Begum, secretary, rural development and cooperative division.

Md Zakir Hossain Akand, managing director of Small Farmers Development Foundation, presided over the programme where AHM Abdullah, former SFDF managing director, presented the keynote paper.

Officials of Rural Development and Cooperatives Department, BRDB, Directorate of Cooperatives, PDBF, BARD, RDA, SFDF, journalists of print and electronic media also participated in the conference.

Md Abul Kalam Azad, project director and general manager, in his welcome speech, focused on the conference issues.

The speakers said that SFDF has a proud role as the successor to the pioneer scheme of microcredit without collateral.

The project implemented by the SFDF aims to increase agricultural production, create self-employment, provide small and micro-enterprise loans for the development of socio-economic conditions.

SFDF focuses on implementation of income-increasing activities for men and women of small and marginal farming families living in the rural areas of the country, through small savings of the beneficiaries.

They mentioned that SFDF is making a special contribution to build its own capital and make it self-reliant.
