Sewing machines were distributed among 18 distressed women in Bandarban district on Tuesday to support their livelihoods and empower them financially.

The distribution ceremony was organized by the Islamic Mission at the hall room of Sualok High School this afternoon. The event aimed to provide practical tools and resources to underprivileged women, enabling them to become self-reliant.

Md. Abdullah Al Mashud, representing the Islamic Mission, presided over the function. Among the notable attendees were Md. Selim Uddin, Deputy Director of the Bandarban Islamic Foundation, and Ukanu Marma, Chairman of the Union Parishad. They expressed their commitment to continuing such initiatives to uplift marginalized communities.

In addition to the sewing machines, financial assistance totaling Tk 235,000 was distributed among 47 distressed women. This monetary support is expected to help the recipients address immediate needs and invest in small-scale income-generating activities.
