In Noakhali, sewing machines were distributed among distressed women on behalf of Socio-Economic Development Organization ’Badhon' on Sunday afternoon.
The sewing machines were distributed in the conference room of the deputy commissioner under the project of providing financial assistance for the reunification of foreign returnees in collaboration with the private development agency BRAC.
Noakhali Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan was the chief guest on the occasion while, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Israt Sadmin presided over the function. ’Badhon’ Chief Executive Iqbal Hossain Liton and BRAC District Representative Akhtarul Islam along with representatives of various private development agencies were present there.
DC Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan handed over sewing machines to five women from different unions of Begumganj Upazila on the occasion. At the time, the deputy commissioner said, these women will be able to provide financial support to their families by making clothes with the sewing machines and selling them in the market.
