It has rained in several parts of the country starting from Tuesday and continued throughout the following days.
After the rain, day and night temperatures were feared to drop significantly leading to severe cold.
Resulting from the rain, a strong cold wave is on-going in most parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, the night temperature may decrease in the next two days due to the on and off rain.
On Friday morning, the lowest temperature in the country was 9 degrees Celsius in Tentulia. The day before, the minimum temperature was 13.5 degrees Celsius in Syedpur. On the other hand, the minimum temperature in Dhaka has risen from 17.2 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius in one day.
Meteorologist Abul Kalam told Bangladesh Post that night temperatures across the country could remain almost unchanged and daytime temperatures could drop by one to two degrees Celsius due to the cold wave.
“Some rainfall is expected in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will be cooler than in the previous days but mostly dry with partly cloudy skies,” he said.
The meteorologist added that from midnight to morning, moderate to heavy fog may fall in some parts of the river basin and its vicinity. Light to moderate fog is expected in other parts of the country.
The meteorological department also said that the night temperature may drop further along with the day temperature in the next two days if the rain continues in most parts of the country.
