Police have arrested seven members of a robbery gang from Kotwali Police Station area of Chattogram city.
They were nabbed from old rail station area under the police station at 12 midnight on Sunday. At that time, police recovered five sharp knives from their possessions.
The arrested are: Mohammad Badsha, 32, son of late Shamsur Rahman of Kolagaon area in Patiya Upazila, Mohammad Shahed, 23, son of Najir Ahmed, resident of Deodighi under Satkania Upazila, Mohammad Karim 22, son of late Mizanur Rahman of Kalatoli Bandakpara under Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila, Mohammad Rubel, 28, son of Saber Ahmed of Piamkhali village of the same upazila and three street boys.
Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station M Obaidul Haque said the gang members were preparing for the robbery in a dark area near the old railway station area.
