Seven injured in Savar clash

At least seven people were injured during a clash between activists of the Awami League candidate and an independent candidate, who were defeated in 12th national election, in Katlapur area of Savar Municipal area on Wednesday night.

The injured were taken to Savar Upazila Health Complex. But one of the injured has been shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with critical injuries.

Local people said that the independent candidate (Eagle) in the election Talukder Md Touhid Jung alias Murad Jung, who is senior vice president of 

Savar municipal Awami League, went to the area for an arbitration meeting over previous clash with activists of the AL 

candidate. 

A group of 15-20 Awami League activists reached the spot and both groups locked into a clash at around 9pm that left seven injured

Nayan Karkun, inspector (operation) of Savar Model police station, being informed, a team from Savar Model police station went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Both groups have filed written complaints. Police detained several members of both the groups for interrogation.
