Seven DU students get Tajuddin Ahmad Award

Mahabuba Islam Meem, a student of the Department of Peace & Conflict Studies of Dhaka University has been awarded ‘Tajuddin Ahmad Peace Gold Medal’ for securing the highest CGPA in BSS (Hons.) examination of 2019.

Besides, Tithi Debnath, a student of the same department has received ‘Tajuddin Ahmad Scholarship’ for her brilliant academic performance. 

Five other students from different departments of the university have also received ‘Tajuddin Ahmad Trust Fund Prize’ for securing the first, second, third, fourth and fifth places in the essay competition. 

Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal distributed medal, scholarship and prizes among the recipients as chief guest at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on Monday (November 20, 2023), says a press release. 

DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the function while Member of the Trustee Board Simin Hossain Rimi, MP, and DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad addressed it as special guests. Donor of the Trust Fund Mrs. Sharmin Ahmad delivered welcome speech while Prof. Dr. Ahmad Mostofa Kamal presented the memorial lecture. Chairman of the Department of Peace & Conflict Studies of DU Dr. Saber Ahmed Chowdhury gave vote of thanks.  Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker conducted the programme. 

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal paid glowing tributes to the memory of the first Prime Minister of Bangladesh Tajuddin Ahmad and said that he was very close associate of Bangabandhu.

Conspirators and anti-liberation evil forces brutally killed Tajuddin Ahmad to destroy the spirits of the Liberation War. He urged the youths to materialize the dream of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make Smart Bangladesh.  

The recipients of Tajuddin Ahmad Trust Fund prize are Md. Sakibur Rahman of the Department of Islamic History & Culture, Md. Imtiaz Zaman Shanto of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, Tabassum Talukder Meem of the Department of Law, Atia Sabiha of the Department of Sociology and Sayma Haque Alin of the Department of Political Science.
