Set up Liberation War Cultural Centre in every dist, upazila: CJ

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has called for setting up of Liberation War Cultural Centre in every district and upazila of the country to preserve and enrich the true history of the Liberation War.

“A Liberation War Cultural Centre can be established in every district and upazila, and if possible in every union to retain or keep the true history of the war alive. Then, the true history of our liberation war will be preserved from generation to generation, otherwise it will be forgotten one day,” he said.

The Chief Justice made the remarks while visiting under-construction Bangladesh Police Liberation War Museum, Mymensingh in the old police hospital building inside Mymensingh District Police Lines on Saturday.

Applauding the great initiative of Mymensingh Police, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan said, “This museum of Police Lines, though small in scale, will evoke the history of the liberation among the policemen for eternity.”

While visiting the under-construction museum, he was very excited to see the reliable information that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had come to Mymensingh 47 times in his life.

The Chief Justice said a major portion of the history of Mymensingh region along with the history of Bangladesh’s national life and Liberation War has been included in the museum.

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan’s wife Nafisa Banu, High Court Judge Md Jahangir Hossain, Supreme Court Registrar Moshiur Rahman, Mymensingh Range DIG Shah Abid Hossain BPM (Bar) PPM, District and Sessions Judge Momtaz Parveen, Deputy Commissioner Didar-E-Alam Mohammad Maksud Chowdhury, Mymensingh District Superintendent of Police Masum Ahmed Bhuiya BPM PPM, and senior officers of District Police, District Administration and District and Sessions Judges Court, among others, were present during the visit of the Chief Justice.
