A septuagenarian man died as he drowned while fishing in a waterbody at Ulipur in Kurigram. His body was recovered from Damal Dabri waterbody at Dighalhailya village under Hatia union of Ulipur Upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Aminul Islam, 75, son of Osman Ali, resident of the area.
Sources said the septuagenarian person went out of his house for fishing on Sunday night. His family members and relatives started searching as he did not return after a long time. Later on Monday morning, locals saw his floating body at Damal Dabri waterbody near to his house. On information, his family members rescued his body and took it to their house.
Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakkar Siddik confirmed the matter and said an UD case was filed as there was no complaint from the family members of the deceased.
