Director General of the Korean Embassy in Bangladesh, Samsu Kim, said that Bangladesh's main export sector is the ready-made garment industry, and Korean investment in this sector is significant.
"The automobile industry is a large industry in the world. Exports from Bangladesh to Korea are increasing at a rate of 5 percent every year. Both countries are working to sign an Economic Partnership Agreement between Bangladesh and Korea", he said adding that the automobile industry in India has grown rapidly. However, there is scope for expanding the automobile supply chain industry in Bangladesh.
He also mentioned that the Mirsharai Economic Zone will be 'Satellite City of Chittagong'.
He was addressing a meeting with business leaders of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) at the World Trade Center on Wednesday.
Samsu Kim said, the plan to build a satellite city under the 'Economic Innovation Partnership Program' (EIPP) in the Mirsharai Economic Zone was presented through information images.
Where all kinds of facilities including hospitals, schools, playgrounds will be available. Which will become the engine of the economy of Bangladesh in the future.
High value manufacturing industry will be developed in the Mirsharai Smart Industrial Zone to attract foreign direct investment.
The meeting was presided over by Chittagong Chamber Administrator and Chattogram Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Pasha.

Chamber Administrator Muhammad Anwar Pasha said, "As the commercial hub of the country, the port city of Chittagong has witnessed significant economic growth in recent years.
This region has become particularly important in the development of various sectors including ready-made garments, shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, IT, and the Chittagong Chamber is playing a supportive role in creating a favorable business environment and investment opportunities.
Therefore, it is time to reduce the trade deficit between the two countries.
Today's visit by the high-ranking official of the embassy will create an opportunity to gain a proper understanding of the investment environment and related businessmen in Chittagong and identify various challenges, as well as further strengthen the relationship.
