A PhD seminar on “Violence against women in Dhaka city: A socio-legal study” was held at Islamic University in Kushtia on Tuesday.
IU Law department organized the seminar at the conference room of the Law faculty of Mir Mosharaf Hossain academic building around 11:30 am.
Professor Dr M Selim Toha, former treasurer of the university addressed the seminar as the chief guest while Professor Dr Reba Mondol, chairman of the department was in the chair.
The fellow, Abdul Aziz Miah presented his article at the event under the supervision of Professor Dr Reba Mondol while Professor Dr Nurun Nahar, Professor Dr Anisur Rahman, and associate Professor Dr M Abdul Karim Khan spoke here as the discussants.
Public Administration department chairman Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Al-fiqh and Legal Studies department chairman Professor Dr M Nasir Uddin, Law department Professor Dr M Shahjahan Mondol and Law and Land Management department chairman Assistant Professor Shahida Akhtar and more than 5o teachers and officials of the various departments of the university participated the seminar. The researcher focused on the causes and impacts of the violence against women in Dhaka City and policies to combat the violence.
