A day-long seminar on ‘Exploring Marine Resources and Fostering Cooperation in Maritime Trade, Security and Safety through IORA’ was held at National Defence College (NDC) at Mirpur Cantonment on Tuesday.
The issue has been asserted by Prime Minister considering its significance not only for our economic growth but also for all the coastal countries of Indian Ocean.
As part of the study on the contemporary national issues, National Defence College (NDC) organised the seminar.
Lt Gen Md Saiful Alam, Commandant, NDC inaugurated the seminar.

Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs were the resource persons of the seminar. A group of Course Members of National Defence Course 2024 presented a keynote paper.
In the closing address, Lt Gen Md Saiful Alam highlighted the importance of the seminar's focus on exploring marine resources and fostering cooperation through IORA to tackle the complex challenges and opportunities in the Indian Ocean region. Commandant emphasized that through collaborative efforts and multilateral engagement, IORA can significantly contribute to
sustainable development, maritime security, and prosperity for all member states. He said that the seminar’s deliberations would yield valuable insights and pave the way for concrete action, reaffirming the commitment to unlocking the immense potential of the oceans for the benefit of present and future generations.
