Players have a great chance to show their performances in the BPL, the top-flight T20 competition in domestic cricket before the World Cup. It’s a great opportunity for the players to prepare themselves.
Chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon said, “Now our main priority is the T-20 World Cup. It is most important at the moment. So, the upcoming BPL T-20 tournament is very important for all the players and also for the selectors.”
“Success of a T-20 match is mostly depend on the batters’ performances. It is essential for the top order batters to make a big score in first 10 overs. We are focusing on the BPL, hope the top order batters would prepare themselves before the mega event,” said Sumon. Bangladesh was unbeaten in the T20 series they played in 2023. They won against England, Ireland, Afghanistan and drew with New Zealand.
The chief selector Sumon is very much hopeful about the national squad.
“The team played very well in T-20 format last year. There is some problems in both batting and bowling. We should have to rectify the mistakes within four months. So, the domestic T-20 tournament is very much important for us,” Sumon added.
“There is no opening or middle order batter who can hit a big score as we expect from them. We are looking for an all-rounder who could give necessary support the team in crucial time,” Sumon expressed his views on Friday.
Bangladesh also needs a match winning bowler, we have also deficient of sharp bowlers. Tigers have four months in hands to prepare themselves for the T20 World Cup.
