A voluntary organisation in Jhenaidah, the Socio-economic and Health Education Organisation (SEHEO), organised a press conference on Monday protesting a number of fake news items in daily newspapers and online news portals against the reputed organisation.
The press conference was held in the hall room of local resort, Johan Dream Vally Park, in Jhenaidah. SEHEO founder and executive director Shamsul Alam, Director (general) Ohidur Rahman, director microcredit Obaidur Rahman, Director (training and resource) Saroj Kumar Das, legal advisor Tipu Sultan and MIS officer Raju Ahmed were among those present.
Organisation executives said the organisation has been serving underprivileged and disadvantaged people, especially women and children, since its inception in 1986. Now the organisation has been working in 43 districts of the country with several lakhs of people, including people with disabilities. They said a section of dishonest and corrupt officials of the organisation has been providing fake and baseless information to the journalists to damage the credibility of SEHEO.
Local journalists, officials, and employees of the organisation were present at the press conference.
