The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) in Jhenaidah has distributed seeds and fertilizer among 700 farmers to boost the yield of lentil. The agriculture inputs were distributed at a simple ceremony on the Upazila parishad premises on Tuesday.
DAE sosurces said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Razia Akter Chowdhury, woman vice-chairman Arati Dutt, agriculture extension officer (DAE) Junayed Hbib, Mir Raqibul Islam and Fursundi Union Parishad (UP) chairman Shikder Shahidul Islam, were present, among others.
Sources said each farmer received 5 kilograms lentil seeds and fifteen kilograms of chemical fertilizer during the season to boost the lentil yield in Sadar upapzila.
During distribution of the agriculture input, UNO Razia Akter in her speech as the chief guest said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh hasina has been sanctioning seeds, fertilizers, other inputs and machinery for the farmers either free of cost, or at a subsidized rate to stand by the farmers. It will help strengthen the socio-economic condition of the farmers and they will play a vital role in meeting up the nutritional needs.
