The local administration of Munshiganj imposed Section 144 at district's Kamarkhara union in Tongibari upazila to avoid any clash as two factions of local Awami League (AL) declared to hold separate meetings at the same venue. Confirming this, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Tongibari Hasina Akter said, “The administration has imposed the ban with effect from 600 am prohibiting any programme at Kamarkhara union and its adjacent areas. The ban will continue till 1000 pm today.”
The AL Munshiganj district unit recently formed its one ward committee of Kamarkhara union, which triggered unrest among the union level leaders and activists in the area. Hasina Akter said, “The followers of two leaders have announced to hold separate conferences at the same place same time on Friday. Therefore, the local administration has imposed Section 144 at Kamarkhara union to avert any clash ahead of the announced political programmes of the two factions.” Additional law enforcers were deployed at the venue of the union to keep the situation normal and under control, the UNO added.
