We think the new Election Commission (EC) will be formed as per the law. Therefore, based on the consensus of country’s all registered political parties, the next election commission should be constituted.
The incumbent KM Nurul Huda-led election commission’s tenure will end in February next year. However, it has been noticed that the anti-liberation forces and killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman fueled by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat and some vested elements staying at home and abroad have already started hatching new conspiracies before the formation of the fresh election commission. They now have started weaving conspiracies centering the formation of the new election commission. They are making their evil attempts to make the next election commission controversial in many ways as the country approaches the next parliament elections.

Under the cover of political identity, they are now holding secret meetings in order to find ways how and in what way they can hatch intrigues against the government and oust it inciting the communal forces. We believe the fresh election commission will also be constituted at the call of the President through search committee after discussing with all registered political parties while there will be representation of all parties including Bangladesh Nationalist Party and opposition Jatiya Party.
Therefore, like in the last two occasions, the President will appoint the CEC and other commissioners of the commission as per the recommendations of the search committee which must be acceptable to all. We believe only then the next election commission will be constituted in all acceptable ways and the next national elections will be held in due time as per the Constitution.
As per article 118 of the Constitution, the honourable President, the head of the state, will hold dialogue with registered political parties before appointing the CEC and commissioners. Therefore, we expect that the President would initiate formal talks with all registered political parties to reconstitute the election commission soon. And after the talks, he (President) will form search committee for constituting the next election commission. The search committee will place its recommendations before the President who later, on the prime minister's advice, will appoint the CEC and other commissioners.
We believe there is no alternative to free and fair polls for establishing democracy. Country’s people will have to remain alert and resist the vested elements’ all sorts of intrigues against the country and the government in order to make the formation process of the next election commission neutral and impartial.
