Leaders of Anti-discrimination student’s movement in Rangamati demanded immediate scrapping of newly reformed interim council of Rangamati Hill District Council (RHDC) in which they alleged that most of the members have been selected from previous fascist government of Awami League (AL) and they gave a 48-hrs ultimatum to the interim government.
They declared their demands from a sit-in programme at in front of the RHDC office premises Thursday morning.
In their speeches, leaders said most of the councilors of new reformed interim council either directly or indirectly involved in AL politics or beneficiaries of the fascist Sheikh Hasina-led government and even one of them a charge-sheeted absconding accused of a murder case. They also demanded for cancellation of appointment of PP (public prosecutor), additional PP and APP at Rangamati Judge’s Court by terming those are the associates of the fascist regime. Those who got membership in RHDC, except its chairman and PP, additional and APP were played their role against the anti-discrimination student movement, they claimed.
It’s tantamount to betray with the students of anti-discrimination movement by appointing such controversial persons by the noble laureate Dr. Muhammed Yunus-led current interim government, they lamented.
They will be compelled to announce a fresh agitation including besiege of secretariat in Dhaka if the government does not scrap notification of newly reformed interim council of RHDC and cancellation of PP, Additional and APP within their ultimatum, they warned.
Earlier, they brought out a procession on the main thoroughfare from district judge’s court to RHDC office.
One of the coordinators of anti-discrimination student movement in Rangamati, Mohammed Rakib Hossain, Robayet Hossain Tuhin,Imam Hossain Rahu Imu, Tanvir Rahuti, Mostafa Anwaratul and Shahjahan Hossain, spoke among others.
