To increase the number of enrolment as well as attendance of students and to attract more and more children to school, the authorities of Baliahat Primary School under Sonatola upazila in Bogura have transformed the entire school building with an exquisite, elegant and colourful decoration.
Not only the students but also the pedestrians are being attracted by this unique decoration of the school building.
According to sources, the Baluaghat Primary School situated only four kilometres away from Sonatola upazila Sadar was established in 1951. Later on, in 1979, the school was nationalised. Due to the regular supervision of the school committee members and the devotion of the teachers, the results of class-v of the school are always very inspiring. To continue to tradition of the excellent result, to decrease dropouts, and to increase attendance of students, the school authorities have decorated with buildings of the school in various colours.
The classrooms of the schools have been renamed by the names of various poets. Moreover, the walls of the schools have been decorated with some attractive paintings which were drawing attention to the students and the pedestrians as well.
It is learnt, nearly 48-year after establishment, the number of students at the school has been increasing. At present there are nearly 550 students at the school.
Roman Hossain and Yeasmin Akhter, students of class-v, Naoshin Tabassum Nandini and Kumar Chaiti Rani Saha of class IV of the school informed, the weekly market (hat) of the area is held on every Tuesday at the school playground. Studies of students are badly hampered due to hue and cry of the hat every week, they complained.
Moreover, rainwater accumulated for a long time at the playground which makes the students unable to hold PT and parade there.
Shamim Akhter, Head Master of the school informed, the number of classrooms in the school is less in compared to students and the old buildings of the schools have become unfit for use. She said the school has been decorated colourfully to increase the enrolment and attendance of students and to check dropouts.
