Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin said that the environment must be preserved to survive the action of nature. Not only the forest, but also the environment and biodiversity including grass and vines, animals and birds must be protected. Illegal cutting of hills, hills, trees should be stopped. The Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of tree plantation drive and tree fair 2022 organized at the premises of Baralekha Upazila Parishad on Thursday.
The environment minister said that due to the increase in temperature due to climate change, fires are burning in various places in the developed world including Europe and America. Railway lines, airports become unusable due to excessive temperature. Those countries are forced to declare a state of emergency.
If we want to save from this rudeness of nature, we have to let nature live first, we have to plant more and more trees and plants.
The meeting presided over by Baralekha Upazila Executive Officer Khandaker Mudachir Bin Ali was attended by Sylhet Forest Division Divisional Forest Officer Md Toufiqul Islam, Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Tajuddin and former Upazila Chairman and Acting General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Rafiqul Islam Sundar and others. The minister distributed 30 fans to 8 primary schools of the upazila under the community development fund of Sufal project.
Earlier, the Minister handed over land deeds to 31 landless and homeless families on behalf of the Hon'ble Prime Minister. In addition, educational stipends were distributed to 31 students from backward communities, financial grants to 60 families from underprivileged minorities, 12 students. Under the initiative of the Department of Agriculture, 5 kg of rice seeds and 20 kg of fertilizer were distributed among 2 thousand farmers and sewing machines were provided to 3 people through the Directorate of Women Affairs.
