The Saudi Arabian government is distributing food assistance among 1.2 lakh helpless poor from 30,000 local families including Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar.

This humanitarian aid is being provided at the initiative of Saudi state-run aid agency, Badshah Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, informed officials.

Officials from the Badshah Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center inaugurated the food assistance distribution programme at Kutupalong Camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia on Monday afternoon.

The programme will continue for a week in different Rohingya camps in Ukhia and Teknaf upazilas of Cox’s Bazar.

The officials said the Saudi Arabian agency is working to alleviate the food crisis caused by the Corona epidemic in Rohingya camps as well as to improve the life standards of locals.

Earlier, in collaboration with Bangladesh government, the Saudi Arabian aid agency had similarly provided relief to at least one lakh refugees last year.
