Dr. Sarker Md Ibrahim Khalil, an Associate Professor in the Department of Fisheries Health Management at Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU), has won a prestigious award in Italy. Dr. Ibrahim recently completed his PhD from the University of Udine in Italy. His thesis was awarded the best PhD thesis at the 28th Italian National Fish Pathological Conference.
Each year, the Italian Fish Pathological Society (SIPI) honors one PhD thesis as the best among all theses completed in the past year from Italian universities. This is a significant achievement for students who complete their PhDs in Italy. The award includes a certificate, a cash prize, and a listing on the society's website.
Dr. Ibrahim received the award at a conference held at the University of Bologna. Dr. Donatella Volpatti, Dr. Ibrahim's co-supervisor, accepted the award on his behalf. Notably, this is the first time the award has been given to someone outside Italy since it began in 2006. The award recognizes the best PhD theses from students in Asia and Europe.
