Sandbags are being dumped on an emergency basis to stop the erosion of Padma River in Munshiganj district. This dumping process will take place in Tongibari upazila and Louhajong upazila of the district. Bangladesh Water Development Board has taken a quick initiative to build a temporary embankment of more than 1 kilometer area to prevent river erosion.
Munshiganj-2 MP Sagufta Yasmin on Thursday noon inaugurated the sandbag dumping project at Dighirpar area in Tongibari upazila. Executive Engineer of Water Development Board Ronendra Shangkar Chakrabati Sub-Divisional Engineer Md Rakibul Islam and others were present at the programme.
Officials during the programme informed that such projects will be implemented quickly to save river adjacent lands from erosions.
