Sale of TCB goods for the month of January started in Jhenaidah. Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Rafiqul Islam inaugurated the day selling some of the essential the commodities among the family card holders on Jhenaidah Shishu Academy premises on Thursday.
Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Razia Akter Chowdhury, assistant director of the trading corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Atiqur Rahman, district controller of food (DC Food) Mannan Ali and upazila food officer (UFO) in Jhenaidah sadar upazila Maznur Rahman among others present. A total of 120,133 family card holders poor and disadvantaged people of six upazilas in the district are getting the two kilograms of lentil, two liters soybean oil and five kilograms of rice at Taka 470 in each package, said the TCB sources.
DC SM Rafiqul Islam during inauguration of the programme said the government considering the socio-economic state of the under privileged and poor, have allocated the TCB goods among one crore people every month so that they could be benefited in the price hike trend of essential commodities throughout the country.
The service will help benefit the poor to survive anyway from the bite of price soaring now-a-days. He warned the dealers and authorities concerned to maintain transparency during selling the TCB goods avoiding all odds to provide utmost services for the poor.
