Traders are selling octane, petrol, diesel and inflammable substances without explosives license in open shops in Munshiganj city and surrounding areas. It is also known that the administration is not taking any action in this regard. Many people think that if they get the opportunity to sell all these flammable materials in Abad due to political violence, the miscreants will have the opportunity to set fire to cars and cause unpleasant incidents at any time.
There are allegations that many traders are buying stolen fuel at low prices and selling it at the market price. Consumers are facing major engine damage due to unrefined stolen fuel. Moreover, many traders are also selling other products besides selling these flammable materials. They are even selling LPG gas cylinders and other products within the same shop.
It is known that in order to run this business, the trade license of the concerned union/municipality, fire service approval letter, environment department clearance letter, police superintendent's approval letter, district commissioner's no-objection letter, explosives license and Petrobangla license should be taken to conduct the business.
Going to the surface, it can be seen that many shops are selling petrol, octane, diesel and combustible materials as well as LPG gas. Where there is no possibility of immediate extinguishment any time a fire occurs and there is a possibility of major accidents. Most of the shops in Munshiganj do not have any such documents. Still they are running business in Abad. By doing this, the government is losing a large amount of tax. As all these flammable materials are easily available, the miscreants can use them in violent incidents.
Many consumers complain that octane, petrol, diesel and combustibles from open shops are not up to standard. As a result, various types of problems arise in the vehicle engine. During the journey, the car stopped in the middle of the road and suffered a lot.
Talking to several traders, it is known that they do not know the documents required to run this business. Also, many people are doing business pretending not to know the matter. Many people do not even have the mindset to prepare the documents. Many people are saying that the magistrates also come in this matter and end up with fines. Same again.
In this regard, Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service, Md. Mostafa Mohsin (BFM) said, Fire Service does not need any consent to sell these substances in small or open markets. However, a number of establishments are increasingly requiring permission to operate filling stations.
In this regard, Munshiganj Additional District Magistrate Shilu Roy said, if explosives are sold without documents, necessary action will be taken against them.
