To ensure supply of eggs and help common consumers to buy eggs at an affordable price, the government on Sunday started selling eggs in the city at fixed prices.
"Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Foysal inaugurated the egg sale program under a joint initiative of the district administration and Rangpur Metropolitan Police in a function held in the city," said a local PID press note tonight.
The Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection, District Department of Animal Husbandry, the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Rangpur Civil Surgeon Office are extending assistance in selling eggs from 2 pm to 5 pm every day.
Eggs will be sold at the government-fixed price of Taka 11.87 per piece at the temporary egg selling center adjacent to the gate of Rangpur Civil Surgeon's office. This egg sale will continue six days a week except Friday until the supply and price of eggs normalize. "Some 10,000 eggs will be sold daily under this program," the press note added.
