Bangladesh Army Quartermaster General Lieutenant General MdSaifulAlam was anointed the 11th ‘Colonel Commandant’ of EME Corps of Bangladesh Army on Thursday.
According to ISPR, the inauguration ceremony was held in accordance with military customs and traditions at the Parade Ground of EME Centre and School in Syedpurcantonment.
On the occasion, EME Corps Senior Captain and Master Warrant Officer presented the prestigious ‘Colonel Commandant Rank-Badge’ to the Quarter Master General of Bangladesh Army.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant was accorded a formal salute on his arrival at the Parade Square. At that time, a smart team of EME core gave him a ‘guard of honour’.
Through this, the Quartermaster General of the Bangladesh Army as ‘Colonel Commandant’
took over the responsibility
of the guardian of the EME Corps as per the traditional military
practice.
On the occasion, the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant delivered his guiding speech to all present. He paid deep respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the great architect of independence and the greatest Bengali father of all time. At
the same time, he saluted all
the brave freedom fighters including the brave soldiers of the EME Corps who sacrificed their lives in the great war of independence.
He also directed all the members of EME Corps to continue their unremitting efforts in carrying out any duty for nation and nation building with due diligence, professional skills and above all team effort while respecting the norms of the Army.
Senior military officers, other officers, junior commissioned officers, other ranks of army personnel and media persons were also present on the occasion.
SaifulAlam was commissioned on 27 June 1986 in the 14th Bangladesh Military Academy Long Course. He won the Sword of Honour and Academic Gold Medal in his BMA long course. He has commanded an infantry brigade under 11th Infantry Division. After serving as the general officer commanding of 11th Infantry Division and area commander, Bogura Area in Bogura Cantonment, he was appointed as Director General of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) on 28 February 2020.
Prior to his duties in Bogura, he was the general officer commanding (GOC) of 7th Infantry Division and area commander of Barishal Area, Barisal Sheikh Hasina cantonment.
He served as the Directing Staff of Defence Services Command & Staff College, Mirpur. He also served as the Commandant of the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) and School of Infantry & Tactics (SI&T). He was a Platoon Commander in Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA).
On 5 July 2021, Alam was appointed the Quarter Master General of Bangladesh Army in Army Headquarters.
