Pace bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin and spin all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain did not play in the last match against Australia due to injuries. After the match, there was a buzz about Saifuddin's injury. Rumors were circulating that Saifuddin’s injury was not that serious that he couldn’t play. Talking about this controversial issue, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman of the operations committee, Akram Khan said that a player can understand the best about the seriousness of his injury.

Former right-handed batsman Akram also confirmed that the pace all-rounder Saifuddin is yet to recover from the back injury. So his availability in the next match against Afghanistan on Monday is still uncertain. However, spin all-rounder Mosaddek is recovering from left shoulder injury.

On Friday, Akram said, "As much as I know he (Saifuddin) is still in a lot of pain. And it will take some time to recover. I will talk about this with team physio (Thihan Chandramohan). But Mosaddek can become fit before the next game.

“Saifuddin did not play because he had a problem (injury). You cannot avoid playing any match if you want. And if he says that he has pain, then we must emphasize that, "he added.

Bangladesh certainly felt the absence of both Saifuddin and Mosaddek in the match against the Aussies. Saifuddin is Tigers’ highest wicket-taker in this year's World Cup, with 9 wickets in 4 matches. Rubel Hossain got the chance instead of Saifuddin and he was battered with 83 runs in 9 overs. Meanwhile, Sabbir Rahman replaced Mosaddek. He was also a failure in batting and also in fielding. He dropped the crucial catch of Warner when he was batting on 10. Sabbir also had zero contribution with the bat as he was out in the first ball that he faced.
