Mosammat Sagorika of Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan College SC, who finished runners-up in the UCB Bangladesh Women's Football League on Tuesday, finished as the second highest scorer with 15 goals. The 17-year-old, who had made headlines during February's SAFF U-19 Women's Championship by emerging as the top-scorer and the best player.
I finished second only because Sabina scored 17 goals in her last match with five goals, but I am happy with my feat because I had scored 10 goals for FC Bramanbaria in the last edition and that is a big improvement.
She never imagined that but it was her determination and courage were there to score as many goals as I could.
Sagorika always think that a striker goes to the pitch for scoring goals as the success of the team mostly depends on the success of strikers. So she tried to score to make sure of the team's victory.
The league was really competitive as every team were really tough and performed well. All the players tried to give their best. Sagorika said, “I had to compete against senior players of the national team so that I could stake a place in the national team”.
The thing she learnt most, however, was assisting teammates to score goals instead of only scoring for myself.
