A pompous reception programme for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship 2024 was held at Chinghlamong Mari Stadium in Rangamati on Saturday.
Rangamati district administration with the association of Rangamti region, Chittagong Hill Tract Development Board and Rangamati Hill District Council, organised the event.
The three female SAFF champions---Rituporna Chakma, Monika Chakma and Rupna Chakma were honoured in the programme. They received a cheque of Tk 1 lakh and a crest each from district administration. They also similarly received a cheque of Tk 1 lakh and a crest each from Rangamati region and Rangamati Hill District Council. Moreover, they were provided a crest and a cheque of Tk 50 thousand each from Rangamati Municipal authority and Rangamati district sports association (DSA).
Besides, the trios were also honoured by the different political, business and socio-cultural organisations by providing cash money and crests in the event.
Presided over by Rangamati deputy commissioner Mohammed Mosarraf Hossain Khan, the programme was also addressed, among others, by Rangamati region commander Md. Shawkat Osman ndc,psc, chairman of Rangamati Hill District Council, Kajal Talukder, police super SM Dr. Forhad Hossain, president of Rangamati district unit BNP, Dipan Talukder and its general secretary advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun and district Jamaat-e-Islami ameer prof Md. Abdul Alim.
Earlier, a motorcades rally with the three champions took out from the compound of Ghagra Hill School under Kawkhali upazila of the district which paraded the Chittagong-Rangamati road, Vedvedi-Asambasti and Asambasti-Chinghlamong Mari Stadium.
Later, a cultural event was held at the same venue.
