Khandaker Sumon directorial movie, ‘Saatao,’ is now available for streaming on the Bioscope. The film portrays the struggles of a farmer’s life, the universal essence of motherhood, and the ups and downs, laughter, and tears of a harmonious crowd. Aynun Putul and Fazlul Haque played the lead roles in this crowd-funded production, ‘Saatao.’
Regarding the film’s release on an OTT platform, director Suman said, “Our film is made entirely with Bangladeshi actors and crews. No foreigners were involved in this film, neither before nor after the shooting. As a result, this is a 100% homegrown film. Previously, the audience had shown interest in the film through alternative screenings in various places, including cinemas and film festivals. However, many have not yet had the chance to watch the film due to various limitations. Now, people from every part of the country will have the opportunity to watch the film on OTT platform.”
“A filmmaker incorporates various themes in his films at different levels. Viewers watch the film and interpret it with their own intelligence and perspectives. When someone discovers spirituality within this movie through its imagery, it is truly rewarding,” he added.
However, ‘Saatao’ was nominated at the 2nd ‘World Film Festival Kolkata’ in India, the 19th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in Russia, and won the Best Film in the Bangladesh Panorama category at the 21st ‘Dhaka International Film Festival.’
The film was released in cinemas on January 27 and has been screened alternately in different districts of the country since March. It had its world premiere at the 53rd International Film Festival of India in Panji, Goa on November 24 last year and was also shown in Italy and Kolkata, India.
