S’pore to help promote Bangladesh’s aviation, labour sectors

By implementing business-friendly policies, enhancing security systems, improving passenger services, and ensuring efficient airport management, the aviation industry of the country will move forward.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan said this while meeting Derek Loh, Non-resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore at the minister’s office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday.

He said, “The government is working to transform the country into one of the major aviation hubs. In the last 15 years, extensive infrastructural and technical development has been achieved in all international and domestic airports of the country. 

Training continues to enhance the skills of personnel engaged with the aviation industry. Besides, we are also giving importance to the 

fleet expansion of state-owned airlines.”

Thanking for the care that Singapore has taken Bangladeshi workers during the Covid-19, the minister said, Singapore’s awareness of protecting the rights and safety of expatriate workers deserves praise. As more and more Bangladeshi workers get the opportunity to work in Singapore, they will prove their worth with skills and dedication.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Derek Loh said that Bangladesh is a very good friend of Singapore. More than 1 lakh Bangladeshi workers are employed in various sectors in Singapore. Bangladeshi workers are very skilled and hardworking. Singapore will consider hiring more Bangladeshi workers in the future.

Additionally, the High Commissioner highlighted the gradual expansion of Bangladesh's aviation sector, noting Singapore's eagerness to contribute to the country's transformation into an aviation hub. 

Singapore is interested in offering training to personnel in the aviation sector to enhance the efficient management of airports in Bangladesh, along with providing essential technical assistance.
