S African businessmen keen to invest in Bangladesh

The Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CMCCI) board of directors, members and businessmen exchanged views with a seven-member business delegation from South Africa headed by Nokuthula Patience Ndlovu. Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber leaders have urged the South African businessmen to invest in various sectors including Bangladeshi garments sector.

On the other hand, head of South African business team, Nokuthula Patience Ndlovu said, “We are interested in investing in various sectors including garments in this country. There are many possibilities in running a business beautifully.”

Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber President Khalilur Rahman presided the views exchange meeting at CMCCI auditorium of Agrabad Kaderi Chamber on Thursday afternoon.

Metropolitan Chamber Vice President AM Mahbub Chowdhury, Vice President (Foreign Trade and Affairs) Wahid Raihan Iftekhar Mahmud Russell and South African representatives and businessmen were present at this time.

Metropolitan Chamber President Khalilur Rahman in his opening speech thanked the South African delegation for the exchange of views with the Board of Directors and members of CMCCI.

He said, “There are great investment opportunities for South African businessmen in Bangladesh. There is huge potential for investors, especially in ICT, infrastructure, textile and tourism sectors. Bangladesh and South Africa have excellent friendly relations”.

The CMCCI chief said that the Metropolitan Chamber can play an important role in the business activities between the two countries for closer trade contacts.

Nokuthula Patience Ndlovu, head of the South African delegation said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the key figure of Bangladesh's development.  Bangladesh is moving forward under her leadership. We are interested in investing in various sectors including garments in this country. There are many possibilities in running a business beautifully. Both countries are on the same path of development, which makes development possible through mutual cooperation.  Therefore, he urged the businessmen of both countries to work together in all matters related to business interests.”

 KDS Group’s General Manager Jasim Chowdhury highlighted the possibilities and opportunities of trade and investment in Bangladesh in various areas of the discussion of the meeting.

CMCCI Vice President AM Mahbub Chowdhury, Wahid Raihan Iftekhar Mahmud Russell, Member Alhaj Solaiman Alam Seth, KDS Textile, KDS Garments and KY Steel citation officials also spoke on the occasion.
