Faridpur District Administration provided 200 gumboots among the farmers of Char areas of the district on Sunday.
The gumboots were distributed as a precautionary situation as the presence of Russell’s viper snake has increased in the area.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Quamrul Ahsan Talukder as the chief guest distributed the gumboots to the farmers in front of the Faridpur District Administration.
Deputy Director of Local Government Department Chaudhury Rowshan Islam spoke at the programme. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Yeasin Kabir presided over the programme.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner said any snake is helpful for the environment. Suddenly the farmers are panicked over Russell’s viper snake due to the rumors on the social media. So, many people are killing snakes which is harmful for the environment.
The gumboots are being distributed among the farmers of Char areas so that they can work at their croplands safely. We want to create a safe work environment for the farmers, he added.
