Russell champ of ‘Banglar Gayen’

Russell Mridha of Rajshahi has become champion in the grand finale of ‘Banglar Gayen’ reality show.  The first runner-up was Rabeya Setu of Narsingdi and the second runner-up was Bilkis Akhter of Tangail.  The private television channel RTV took the initiative of holding a folk song competition to highlight the earthy melody of Bengal during the house arrest.

The reality show ‘Banglar Gayen’ officially started its journey on June 11, last year with the participation of several musicians and music directors of the country on Facebook Live, sponsored by Bengal Cement.  The final results were announced on the night of last Tuesday after six months of various stages of competition.

Last Tuesday night on RTV the grand finale was aired.  Speaking on the occasion at the Bengal Multimedia Studio, State Minister for Culture KM Khalid said, “The competition was held in such a way that everyone was kept safe, which is an exemplary example”.

 RTV Vice Chairman Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Chief Executive Officer Syed Ashiq Rahman also spoke at the function.  Besides, people from different districts of the country as well as from abroad took part in the competition of 'Banglar Gayen'.  

In the preliminary stage, 1,451 people were selected for registration out of more than two lakh applications. The songs of these contestants were evaluated on the basis of the judges' 'Yes-No' card and 300 contestants were selected for the preliminary selection. Online videos were re-invited from 300 contestants and the top 100 were selected.  The studio round of 'Banglar Gain' started with the top 100 contestants.  Later, from 100 to 50, 50 to 30, this is how the competition progresses step by step towards the grand finale.  Musicians SI Tutul, Shawkat Ali Emon and Ibrar Tipu acted as judges in the entire event.

 In the original song episode, the three judges of 'Banglar Gayen' composed the songs written by the country lyricist for the contestants to sing.   The top seven contestants advanced to the gala round of the Grand Finale.  Parvez Sajjad, Oishee, Sandipan, Laila, Rajib, Pulak and Sabbir, seven musicians of the young generation of the country, have joined hands with the seven finalists in this round of the final competition.

The grand finale began with Shawkat Ali Emon, SI Tutul and Ibrar Tipu performing the theme song of 'Banglar Gayen' sung by Salma and Liza.  The ceremony ended with the announcement of the results.
