Hailing from Sylhet, Runa began her journey at the tender age of 12, lending her voice to film songs. Her remarkable talent spanned cinema, ghazals, contemporary music, and live performances. Over her career, she recorded over 10,000 songs, with her rendition of ‘Mast Qalandar’ still loved worldwide. She has graced stages in Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi, receiving admiration across borders.
Runa has been honored with numerous accolades, including the prestigious Independence Award. Reflecting on her birthday and career, she expressed gratitude, saying, "I am deeply thankful to the Almighty for His blessings. The admiration and love I have received are overwhelming, making my journey truly rewarding."
She credits her family, especially her mother, for unwavering support. "My mother's contribution stands above all. She sacrificed so much and was always by my side during my performances," Runa shared.
