Poet Rudra Mohammad Shahidullah’s 33rd anniversary of the death was observed at Mithakhali in Mongla upazila of Bagerhat on Friday.
Marking the day, Rudra Smriti Sangsad brought out a procession. People from all strata including the representatives of various socio-political organisations and educational institutions paid tribute to the poet by placing wreath at his grave.
A doa Mahfil was held at his ancestral home for the salvation of his departed soul. Rudra Mohammad left an impression on readers of Bangla literature in the ‘70s writing poems portraying rebellion, love, War of Liberation and others.
He wrote poems, including Concentration Camp, Khatian, Batase Lasher Gandha, Amar Samasto Parajay, Bish, Ishtehar, Katha Chhilo Subinay, Manusher Manchitra, Michhile Natun Mukh, Amar Samrajye Adhishwari Chhile, Chole Gele Mone Hoy Tumi Esechhile, Khub Kachhe Eso na Kono Din, Bhalobasar Samay Toh Nei, Thakuk Tomar Ektu Smriti and others.
He was born on October 16, in 1956.
