Rajshahi University (RU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar resigned from his post on Thursday.
'VC Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar resigned from his post at 3:02pm,' said Mir Shahjahan Ali Zakir, secretary of the RU vice chancellor office.
The vice chancellor stepped down from his post after the student leaders of the Student Movement Against Discrimination had issued an ultimatum on Thursday noon urging the university top officials, including the vice chancellor and pro-vice chancellors to resign within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, RU acting registrar Prof Tariqul Islam said that many officials and employees had already submitted their resig
nation letters, but he was yet to receive them as most of the employees were absent on Wednesday.
He said that he would be able to give information about who had resigned later.
