The Rajshahi University (RU) is scheduled to go on a 21-day vacation on the occasion of the Pohela Boishakh, Shabe Qudr, Eid-Ul-Fitr and historic May Day from April 14 next.
Prof Prodip Kumar Pandey, Administrator of RU Public Relation Office, confirmed the matter saying their varsity will remain closed for 15 days on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, May Day and Eid-ul-Fitr according to the academic calendar.
He, however, said all sorts of academic activities will remain suspended for the scheduled occasions and the weekends from April 14 to May 4.
But this time, all the 17 students' dormitories will remain open during the Eid holidays.
Meanwhile, the resident students appreciated the RU decision for keeping their halls remain open during the long vacation and termed it as wise.
Jamal Uddin Abrar, a student of the university, said tests of various jobs, including Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) and banks, are in the offing. Preparations for the upcoming tests may be disturbed due to staying in their houses.
So, the university authority will get appreciation for the time-fitting decision, he added.
