The Rajshahi University (RU) Teachers' Association has decided to help those affected by the severe floods in the southeastern part of the country. The association decided that each teacher would donate one day's salary to the Chief Adviser’s Relief and Welfare Fund.

Omar Farooq Sarkar, General Secretary of the Teachers' Association, confirmed this decision. He mentioned that the teachers’ salaries would be sent to the Chief Adviser’s fund to assist the flood victims. He also stated that any teacher who wishes to contribute more than one day's salary is welcome to do so. If a teacher does not want to participate, they must inform the association by August 28.

Fazlul Haque, former Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Professor of Islamic History and Culture, expressed his concern over the unprecedented nature of this flood. He noted that people across Bangladesh are coming together to support the flood victims, including students who are working tirelessly to raise funds. Professor Haque praised the Teachers' Association’s decision to donate their salaries, calling it a commendable act of solidarity.

The meeting was chaired by Professor ATM Kamrul Hasan, Vice President of the Teachers' Association, along with Treasurer Professor Partha Roy Biplab and Joint General Secretary Abu Sayed Md. Nazmul Haider. Around 200 teachers participated in the meeting, showing their commitment to supporting those in need during this difficult time.

This collective effort by the teachers of RU reflects the unity and compassion of the academic community in helping the country recover from this devastating natural disaster.
