Police arrested Kazi Zahidur Rahman, an Awami League-backed teacher leader and Assistant Professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Rajshahi University, from RU Staff Quarter on Thursday early morning (2-00 am) allegedly for issuing indecent remarks and raising false, concocted charges against late AL Presidium Member and former Minister Mohammad Nasim.
Kazi Zahidur Rahman was arrested under Digital Security Act and sent to the jail on Thursday, informed Masud Parvez, Officer-in-charge of Motihar Police station.
It is learnt, Advocate Tapas Kumar Shah filed a case under DSA against Kazi Zahidur Rahman with Motihar police station on Wednesday night and he was arrested on the early morning of Thursday.
The statement of the case mentioned Kazi Zahidur Rahman on his own Facebook page on June-1, 2 and 5 raised some indecent, false, fabricated charges against former late AL Presidium Member and former Minister Mohammad Nasim, Even, the photo and name of Mohammad Nasim were also added in a FB post.
The statement further mentioned that Mohammad Nasim was a valiant Freedom Fighter and a former Minister of Bangladesh government. Till to his death, he had been a member of Parliament and the son of one of the four martyred National Leaders Captian M. Monsur Ali. Such posts in the FB have created confusion and anger among teachers, students and common people, the statement mentioned further.
Arrested Kazi Zahidur Rahman is an influential leader of Pro-Awami League backed teacher and a Resident Teacher of Shahid Shohrawardi Hall of RU. He was also the Information and Research Secretary of the recently dissolved committee of Narail District Awami League.
It is learnt, on June-1 Kazi Zahidur Rahman made a FB status taunting the illness of Mohammad Nasim and advised him to 'return alive from the throes of death by paying a kickback to Corona'.
On June-2, he again posted a status criticising Mohammad Nasim and demanded to ' supply him Carbon-di-oxide instead of Oxygen' and on June-5 again in another status Zahidur indicates Mohammad Nasim as ' a thief' and said, 'he( Nasim) should be applied a malfunctioned ventilator to breath'.
