Bangladesh Railway, Rohanpur rail station, has earned Tk. One crore 64 lakh 36 thousand 248 during fiscal year 2022-'23 from the passenger tickets and goods charge realised for travelling and carrying goods through the Commuter train on Rohanpur-Rajshahi-Ishwardi route.
The amount of income is the second after the income of Rajshahi rail station under West Zone railway. The Commuter train runs four times in Rajshahi-Rohanpur route daily while in the morning the train starts from Ishwardi and travelling between Rohanpur-Rajshahi route, it returned to Ishwardi in the afternoon.
Nazmul Huda Khan Rubel, Convener of Rohanpur Railway Port Implementation Parisad, informed despite the shortages of number of train compartments, the Commuter train sets a record in earning from Rohanpur railway station. He hoped, the earning would further increase if the number of compartments in the train is increased.
Moreover, he said, the earning would also increased from the newly introduced local train from Rohanpur.
He also demanded to increase a passenger train from Rajshahi to Rohanpur after evening.
This train will also get a huge passengers since there is no bus service after evening to travel to Niamatpur and Porsha of Naogaon district and Gomastapur, Nachole, Bholahat and Chapainawabganj sadar of Chapainawabganj district and Godagari of Rajshahi district.
