Robert Downey Jr is back in the Marvel movies. The big announcement was made at Comic-Con on July 27 during a Disney presentation. Downey Jr, famous for playing Iron Man, will now play Doctor Doom, a major villain in the Marvel comics.

Fans were thrilled to see him return. Downey Jr appeared on stage with other masked figures before revealing himself. He said, “New mask. Same task. What'd I tell you? I like playing complicated characters.” The crowd cheered loudly.

Harrison Ford and Pedro Pascal were also announced as new stars joining Marvel. The movie franchise has made an incredible US$30 billion at the box office, but some recent movies have not done well. Marvel is hoping these new stars will bring back its success.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel films, shared details about new superhero movies. The event in San Diego, California, was packed with excited fans. They had waited for hours to get a seat.

Fans have been unhappy with recent Marvel movies, saying the stories are too complicated. They also miss favorite characters like Downey Jr's Iron Man.

There were also problems with actor Jonathan Majors, who was set to be a new supervillain. Majors was convicted of assault and was dropped by Marvel.

Downey Jr will now fill that role as a villain. He will star in two new Avengers movies: Avengers: Doomsday in May 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2027.

The Marvel event started with a performance by singers and dancers dressed like Deadpool and Wolverine. The next few years will bring many new movies, including Captain America: Brave New World in February 2025, Thunderbolts in May 2025, and The Fantastic 4: First Steps in July 2025. Fans are excited for what’s next.
