Two passengers were killed in a robbery attack on a commuter train from Dhaka to Jamalpur-Dewanganj. Nahid, Rubel Mia and an unidentified man were seriously injured in the incident.
Witnesses said 15 to 20 passengers were traveling on the roof of a commuter train from Dhaka to Jamalpur. After the train left Gafargaon station in Mymensingh, a group of 4 to 5 robbers attacked them with home-made weapons and snatched their money and mobile phones.
Later, the passengers of the train reported the robbery at Pierpur station. When the train reached Jamalpur railway station around 10 pm, the injured passengers were taken down from the roof and taken to Jamalpur Sadar Hospital by Jamalpur Railway Police. Nahid and an unidentified person were declared dead by the medical officer of the emergency department.
Zakiul Alam Khan, Jamalpur Railway Police Sub-Inspector Sohail Rana said that according to Rubel, a train passenger undergoing treatment at the hospital, it was initially confirmed that they were caught by robbers on the roof of the train. The bodies of the two have been kept in the morgue of Jamalpur Sadar Hospital. The matter will be investigated and further legal action will be taken.
