A man named Zakir Hossain alias Ranga, 40, was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Damarapota in Satkhira on Thursday midnight. Police said the deceased was accused in 13 cases on charges of murder and robbery.
A foreign pistol, two rounds of ammunition and a knife were seized from the spot. The deceased is son of Keramat Ali of Matiadanga village of Shatkhira Sadar upazila. Inspector, Special Branch of the District Police Mizanur Rahman claimed that after arresting Jakir Hossain they took him to Damarpota to search his arsenal. At that time, Zakir's gang members opened fire on the police. Police also opened fire in return. Zakir was shot dead caught up in the fight.
